2012: The Year of Improving Our Health-span NOT Just Lifespan

When I reflect on accomplishments of 2012, I fondly reminisce on the time I spent with all of you in your clubs, classrooms and many of you at my ranch where we literally spent the day planning how to save the world through fitness before we actually rode off into the sunset. Our message throughout the year was focused on improving health-span, the time a person remains functionally productive, versus simply lifespan where one maybe living but unproductive due to otherwise avoidable age-related disease. When I think of the millions of lives we have all positively impacted by educating people on the things they need while their bodies can still use them to grow and remain strong, I am very satisfied that we did our job as true health care professionals by keeping many of our members and clients from entering our broken and backwards disease-care system. And if we continue doing our job of taking care of people's health while they still have it, we can begin to shift our country's backwards health-care system toward prevention, thus making our teams the country's healthcare champions.

The Year in Review
The simple, inexpensive nutrition and exercise prevention measures we've learned to give our families and clients allow them to live to their true health potential and avoid the otherwise inevitable triage effect where the body diverts the limited supply of nutrition, from our normal daily diet, to necessary short-term survival, thus compromising long-term health. As nutrition science progresses, we continue to learn more and more about the daily nutritional needs that, if supplied, allow us to live active and healthy lives as we maximize our true lifespan. While proper (or best we can do) diet and exercise will always make us better, supplementing properly, as we all have now learned, can take us from better to best whether it be related to sports, fitness, cognitive potential or longevity. Anyone can stay alive, but only those who give the body all it can use so it maximizes each function daily will grow strong and thrive. Our healthcare "prescription" helps prevent the otherwise inevitable disease-care prescription.

2012 Goals Accomplished
We leave all the people we touched in 2012 with the formula for achieving a long lasting health-span. We now know by living a healthy lifestyle, including incorporating daily supplementation with a simple multivitamin and mineral formula and supplementing synergistically calcium, vitamin D and omega-3s as needed throughout all stages of life, we may significantly slow the inevitable aging decline in body and brain functioning. And, to a point, we may end our days in a very “soft landing”: cognitively functional, active and productive. Because we grew strong, we stay strong.

2013 & Thank You

The 2013 fitness battle we will take on will be focused on weight control. Just taking a few pounds of body fat off an individual can add years of quality life while dramatically reducing healthcare costs.

As I always say, dotFIT doesn't exist without all of you. You will carry on the mission and go on to do bigger and better things with the foundation we have created. I only hope I can keep contributing in some small way to your careers so that you can succeed me in finishing our drive to make the next generation better than ours. Thank you all for your unwavering commitment to saving the world with fitness. See you in the clubs and classrooms soon, and hopefully many of you at my ranch where careers are made.

Happy New Year!

Neal
